The popular Antique and Collectors Fair returned to The Rheged Centre on Sunday 9th August hosting more than 60 Exhibitor stands selling Jewellery, Books, Ceramics, Prints, Tools, Watches, Pens, Militaria and lots more.
Colin Caygill, 54, started organising Antique Fairs in the mid 80's, he says, "So much has changed over the years, the industry went into the doldrums around 2006 but we dug our heels in and embraced a different approach. We encouraged people to have a rethink, it wasn't just selling or buying Antiques and Collectables, it was recycling. It was a breath of fresh air through the business when everyone adopted this new recycling approach. Antiques and Collectables were no longer part of a stuffy world, we started hearing popular terms such as Vintage and Retro and they were becoming a lifestyle choice for many people especially the younger generations."
The Rheged Centre is a popular location for Colin's Fairs, "Penrith is a very interesting location for us. We have ample parking, great road access and we're right on the edge of the Lakes so we enjoy a good mixture of regular local visitors and tourists."
