Tributes to Cumbrian woman killed in van accident in school grounds

A woman who was killed after an accident involving a recycling van in Windermere has been named as Dorothy Ann Harkes.
Mrs Harkes, 58, who was known as Ann, died after she was hit in the grounds of St Mary’s Church of England Nursery and Infant School on Thursday morning.
Her family said she was a “generous” lady with a “bubbly personality.”
She was collecting recycling at the time of her death.
In a statement they said: “Ann was very generous with everything including her time. Respected and loved by all of her colleagues, friends and family alike, due to her bubbly personality and larger than life attitude.
“She will be deeply missed by all.”
Police are continuing to investigate the incident which involved an Isuzu (Recycling) Box van owned by South Lakeland District Council and Mrs Harkes, of Great Urswick..
No arrests have been made.
